Brittany Slaton, a 20-year-old native of Salinas, has been chosen as the 77th queen of the California Rodeo Salinas.
This kind of rodeo queen competition may somewhat resemble ordinary beauty pageants. The contestants are most definitely beautfiful, there are lots of make-up, and there are glitzy costumes to boot. What separates this kind of competition, however, is that competitors have to be expert in horse-riding--not just ordinary riders; they have to be experts.
